Icelandic low-fare airline PLAY has announced it will run a limited number of flights between Cardiff Airport, Wales, and Iceland’s Keflavik Airport between 10 October and 20 November 2024.
The flights will operate twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, for the six-week period to coincide with school holidays at the end of October. Flights will then be adjusted to Thursdays and Sundays during the initial week and then Tuesdays to Wednesdays.
In January, PLAY announced a self-bookable stopover option in Iceland on transatlantic routes to North America.
Einar Örn Ólafsson, PLAY CEO, said: “Our new route from Cardiff to Iceland is the first direct flight between the two destinations. Not only does this mark a milestone for PLAY, but also opens up exciting possibilities for customers wanting to travel to the US and Canada at affordable prices.”
