Regional airline Eastern Airways has launched its Aberdeen-Teesside route, starting from 20 May.

The service will initially operate on weekdays and Sundays, increasing to twice daily from 9 September.

Notably, this announcement comes hot on the heels of rival carrier Loganair, making it known that it will be cutting its Aberdeen-Teesside route to improve its operational performance. The route is vital for North-East connectivity in the UK, particularly for those working in the energy sector.

Eastern Airways has swooped in to fill the gap after operating the route between 2001 and 2022.

Eastern Airways Commercial Director Roger Hage said: “We have been operating from Teesside on multiple every year since 2001, so returning to the Aberdeen service from 20th May restores familiarity to many faces we have welcomed on board for many years.”

“We are delighted to welcome back the Aberdeen to Teesside route with Eastern Airways strengthening the ties between the two regions,” added Chris Tibbett, Aero Director at AGS Airports, the operator of Aberdeen International Airport.

“The reinstatement of the Aberdeen to Teesside route reflects our ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of our passengers and supporting the growth of regional air travel,” claimed Tibbett.
