Ryanair CEO Micheal O’Leary says that higher fuel prices as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine mean that the era of the €1 fare is history. Speaking to the BBC, O’Leary said that he expects that his airline’s average one way fare will also have rise “last year our average fare was €40 and we think that will have to edge up to around €50 this year”. O’Leary retained his trademark bullishness when said that compared with legacy rivals Ryanair’s fare increases are modest and he remained confident that the airline will continue to win business and customers become more price sensitive as the result of inflation.
