American Airlines is increasing the frequency of its services between Gainesville Regional Airport in Florida and Dallas-Fort Worth during June and July. The service, which was reduced due to Covid-19, will now be served twice daily nonstop from 5 June.
“The Dallas route has been extremely popular with our travellers, and they very much missed the convenience and options when the frequency diminished,” said Allan Penksa, CEO of Gainesville Regional Airport.
The route will be served by an Embraer ERJ-175 (with a seating capacity of 76) and a Canadair RJ-900 aircraft (with a seating capacity of 76-79). Passengers travelling from Gainesville will benefit from solid connections to 96 unique destinations not currently served by existing American Airlines hubs in Charlotte and Miami. These links include flights to Honolulu and Kahului/Maui in Hawaii, Anchorage in Alaska, San Jose in California, and Redmond in Oregon. International destinations also include Tokyo in Japan and Seoul in South Korea.
“Having two flights on a nicely sized aircraft, offering first class and other amenities, provides our business and leisure travellers with the sorts of options and flexibility they long for,” Penksa added. He also stated that the more passengers fly local, the greater the chance this frequency might be extended beyond July.
