Low-fare carrier Scoot has unveiled the first six routes for its new Embraer E190-E2 fleet, due to start in May 2024.
The routes include two new destinations, Koh Samui and Sibu, as well as existing destinations in Malaysia and Thailand, including Hat Yai, Kuantan, Krabi, and Miri. With the introduction of these two new destinations, Scoot’s network will increase to 69 destinations.
The first of its nine E190-E2 aircraft is expected to be delivered from Embraer’s Brazil manufacturing facility in April. This first aircraft, nicknamed Explorer 3.0, will take over the existing flights to Krabi and Hat Yai from 7 May, increasing flight frequencies to both destinations to 10 times weekly.
The second E2 aircraft, also scheduled for delivery in April, will allow Scoot to operate routes to the four additional destinations. Daily flights to Koh Samui will start from 13 May, whilst frequency increases to Miri and Kuantan will increase to four times weekly from 5 June.
“We are delighted to unveil the first six destinations to be helmed by our new Embraer E190-E2s to cities in Malaysia and Thailand, including two exciting new additions to our network. This marks a new chapter of growth for Scoot and the SIA Group and a significant step in strengthening our presence and connectivity in the region,” said Mr Leslie Thng, Scoot’s Chief Executive Officer.
“Our fleet expansion reflects our confidence that the demand for air travel will continue to grow within this region. We will continue to seek new opportunities and push boundaries so as to connect our customers to even more destinations at the same great value in the future.”
