Indonesia’s Lion Air Group has confirmed an order for 50 Boeing B737 MAX 10 aircraft in a deal valued at approximately US $6.24 billion at list prices.
The order is the largest incremental to date of the MAX 10 variant, said Boeing, with the deal having been previously listed by the manufacturer as unidentified. Lion was the first operator to put the B737 MAX 8 into service, and the first to order the B737 MAX 9, of which last month it took delivery of the first MAX 9.
“Lion Air is very excited to be a launch customer of the latest version of the 737. This airplane delivers a new level of fuel efficiency and operating economics and fits in perfectly with our fleet of modern airplanes,” said Edward Sirait, president director at the Lion Air Group. “We are proud to continue our tradition of innovation at Lion Air as we again lead the way with new airplane technology.”
The 737 MAX 10 is the largest variant in the family, at 43.8 m (143 ft) in length it can seat up to 230 passengers.
