Air Corsica has confirmed an order for two additional ATR 72-600 aircraft to finalise its regional fleet transition plans from the ATR -500 series to the latest generation of turboprop aircraft.

The order was originally placed at the Paris Air Show 2023 as an undisclosed customer. These two aircraft will be powered by the upgraded PW127XT engine. Air Corsica already has one ATR 72-600 powered by this engine, delivered in November 2022.

The order marks “an important turning point” for the carrier as it focuses on sustainability and regional connectivity. The carrier operates 12 domestic public-service routes, and 12 non-public-service domestic routes and 12 international routes, year-round and seasonally in the summer.

“By harmonising our fleet around the ATR 72-600 aircraft, we will continue to contribute actively to our island’s economic prosperity, providing our customers with a fast, reliable, economical and socially responsible means of transport,” said Marie-Hélène Casanova-Servas, President of Air Corsica’s Supervisory Board.

The airline currently has a fleet of 12 aircraft: five ATR 72-600, one ATR 42-500, and six A320 aircraft, including two A320neos.
