Spanish low-fare airline Vueling Airlines has selected Ultramain Systems’ electronic logbook software, ULTRAMAIN ELB, to replace its paper technical, cabin, journey and fuelling logs.

Once implemented, Vueling’s flight crews will operate the electronic logbook on mounted EFBs, whilst mechanics and cabin crew will use the iOS version on an iPad. Both the Windows and iOS versions link to a common ground system.

The new software will be implemented across Vueling’s 120-plus-strong Airbus A320 family fleet. It will help the airline achieve a paperless aircraft, helping to streamline its operations and reduce weight onboard the aircraft, saving fuel consumption and reducing waste.

It is the latest airline customer to utilise this software, alongside SAS and India’s Vistara.

Marc Espuga, Head of Fleet Technical Management, said: “Vueling was born digital, so our partnership with ULTRAMAIN ELB perfectly matches our vision of becoming a more efficient and sustainable airline. The fact that we can now handle several documents digitally is both timesaving and much more aligned with our sustainability goals.

Mark McCausland, President and CEO of Ultramain Systems, said: We are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to Vueling as part of the ULTRAMAIN ELB family, and we are equally excited to broaden our customer reach into Spain.

Use of the ULTRAMAIN ELB has eliminated paper on “more than 2 million sectors flown” by its customer airlines, McCausland added.
