According to Pratt & Whitney, its Singapore Technology Accelerator (STA) has delivered more than 30 innovations aimed at maximising its productivity in maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) processes.
P&W established the STA in collaboration with Singapore’s Economic Development Board (EDB) in 2022. The STA, located at Singapore’s Seletar Aerospace Park, is intended to be a centre of excellence for technology advancement. The STA is working with more than 20 Singapore companies to develop new, relevant technologies in the global commercial aviation sector.
STA technology projects focus on automation, advanced inspection, connected factory and digital twin, designed to improve MRO shop performance. The innovations developed by the STA are being validated at P&W’s four Singapore-based MRO facilities before being progressively rolled out across the company’s global MRO footprint.
“STA is a focal point for the innovative thinking and enterprising spirit of our employees, applied to scale technologies across our MRO facilities faster and better,” says Gilbert Sim, Director of Aftermarket Global Operations Technology and CORE at Pratt & Whitney. “We will continue working with MRO facilities and centres of excellence in Singapore and throughout the network to deliver more technology insertion projects,” he adds.
