IndiGo has announced a record order for 500 Airbus A320 family aircraft, with delivery expected between 2030 and 2035. The agreement, bringing IndiGo’s total order for Airbus aircraft to 1,330, was signed during a media briefing at the Paris Air Show.

The 500 aircraft order marks the largest single purchase agreement for single-aisle aircraft in the history of commercial aviation, making IndiGo Airbus’ biggest A320 family customer. The value of the agreement is undisclosed, as are further details on the precise breakdown of aircraft type within the order.

“The Indian aviation market today is one of the fastest growing markets in the world, and again with the rise of the Indian economy, we have a wonderful opportunity to continue to serve and make air travel available for as many Indian customers as possible,” said Pieter Elbers, CEO, IndiGo. “This order will bring us well into the next decade and will make sure that IndiGo can continue to serve the needs of the Indian aviation market.”

“I think what we see happening here today speaks very highly of what’s happening in India, the growth and developments but also the incredible growth for aviation. The willingness to fly,” said Guillaume Faury, CEO, Airbus. “IndiGo has been a fantastic opportunity for Indian people to fly for the first time and creating the conditions for people to fly. With this important order of 500 planes, it indicates to everyone that IndiGo will continue to play its role to be the line of reference for the Indian market.”
