Monarch Aircraft Engineering (MAEL) has invested approximately £2 million in a new Component Maintenance Centre due to open in Northampton in September 2018.
The new centre will have a range of capabilities, including: composite repairs (to an ISO class 9 standard), welding, machining, cadmium plating, bearing spinning and spraying.
Capabilities will also include heat treatment, therapeutic oxygen cylinders (for recharging of breathing oxygen), emergency batteries (for recharging of emergency power packs and batteries), hardness testing and aircraft tooling.
Chris Dare, managing director at Monarch Aircraft Engineering, said: “Our new Northampton facility will enable us to more effectively and efficiently support our burgeoning line and base maintenance facilities across the UK. This multi-million pound investment in new facilities, equipment and, most importantly, skilled engineering talent, is an integral part of our long term growth plan and will play a vital role in our success in the years ahead.”
The centre will be located in Northampton as it lies mid-way between MAEL’s Luton and Birmingham base maintenance facilities, and on the motorway network within four hours’ drive of all its UK line maintenance stations.
A total of 20 people will work at the new centre, to be led by Lee Burgess, MAEL’s head of maintenance, with 10 new jobs being created.
