Kuwaiti low-fare airline Jazeera Airways has selected Expliseat’s TiSeat E2 seating for the retrofit of Jazeera’s nine A320 aircraft, including one A320 neo, and two A321s. Expliseat will deliver more than 2,000 seats for Jazeera’s aircraft by 2024.

The TiSeat E2 is the second generation of the Expliseat TiSeat model, weighing only 6.8kg per seat, making it 30% lighter than other seats of its type. By retrofitting its aircraft with these seats, each aircraft in Jazeera’s fleet will reduce aircraft empty weight by 1,200kg, freeing up space for one additional row of seats as well as reducing jet fuel consumption.

“The TiSeat will deliver a substantial weight saving of 1.2 metric tons per aircraft,” said Rohit Ramachandran, CEO of Jazeera Airways. “The significant cost savings associated with this will help us to maximise our operational and financial performance.”

Each seat will feature a USB in-seat power system from Burrana, as well as a portable electronic device (PED) holder to improve the passenger experience of Jazeera’s customers.

“We are proud to partner with Jazeera to equip their cabins with our second generation of TiSeat to support such a successful company in the long term,” said Amaury Barberot, CEO, Expliseat. “With our new seat generation, other airlines are turning to Expliseat to address rising fuel prices, carbon taxes and sustainability issues.

“With our unique technology… Jazeera’s eleven single-aisle aircraft equipped with our latest TiSeat will save up to half a million litres of fuel per year and significantly reduce fuel emissions,” he added.
