HK Express increases seating capacity to meet surging travel demand

In response to the listing of COVID restrictions by the Hong Kong SAR Government, low-fare carrier HK Express has implemented measures to assist travel to Hong Kong, and from Japan.  As HK Express’ biggest market, the carrier typically serves 14 airports across the country, so this is a significant change that marks the start of its recovery.

The carrier intends to increase its flight capacity from October to December, with more than 80,000 seats from Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Bangkok and Singapore.  HK Express is now taking reservations for these flights. Earlier in the month, the website for the airline, and its parent organisation, Cathay Pacific, buckled under the traffic for flight searches.

“Our website is busy due to the high traffic, which may cause longer time in flight search, booking or receiving itinerary e-mails,” HK Express said, in a pop-up message on its site.
