Copenhagen Airport has joined Heart Aerospace’s Industry Advisory Board, where the airport will provide input on the design, development and commercialisation of the ES-30 regional electric aircraft.

The Heart Aerospace Industry Advisory Board includes airlines, governments, leasing companies and airports from across the world, representing the aviation ecosystem which will be necessary to support the electrification of aviation.

“Eliminating the carbon emissions from aviation will over the next decades be one of Copenhagen Airport’s focus areas, and to succeed, we need to engage with our stakeholders to accelerate their journey towards Net Zero,” said Jesper Jacobsen, Head of Sustainability Development, Copenhagen Airports. “Joining Heart Aerospace’s Industry Advisory Board gives us a unique position to plan for the infrastructure needed for electric aviation and support the Net Zero ambitions of our partners.”

Copenhagen Airport sees approximately 30 million passengers a year, according to 2019 statistics, and is a hub for Scandinavian carriers, including SAS and Norwegian. The Danish government intends to make all domestic flights free of fossil fuels by 2030.

“Scandinavia is leading the way towards Net Zero with ambitious mandates, like the one from the Danish government,” said Simon Newitt, President and Chief Commercial Officer, Heart Aerospace. “Airports are key in the electrification of air travel, and input from this region’s largest hub will be a valuable contribution, not just to Heart Aerospace, but to all members of our advisory board.”
