Etihad Airways has signed an interline partnership with the national airline of the Maldives, Maldivian.

The partnership will allow Etihad’s passengers to access 16 routes on Maldivian’s network, serving destinations beyond Malé. Etihad will also increase the frequency of its flights to Malé from 10 to 14 flights a week, starting 1 January 2024.

Passengers will be able to travel across the archipelago on one ticket, delivering enhanced connectivity.

Maldivian’s General Manager of Commercial, Ibrahim Hamdhan Mohamed, said: “In an effort to expand Maldivian’s reach globally, this interline partnership with Etihad Airways will open exciting opportunities for our valued customers to connect and travel seamlessly within our strong and growing route network of destinations across the Maldives.”

This interline agreement is one of the latest in Etihad’s expansion plans, announced alongside its interline expansion with China Eastern Airlines.

These follow six interline partnerships in March 2023, which included three new agreements with Philippine Airlines, South Africa’s Airlink, and Austrian Airlines.

Etihad’s Chief Revenue Officer, Arik De, said: “This interline will elevate the overall customer experience across the entire journey. Guests bound for the Maldives will enjoy the privilege of arriving at their popular holiday destinations with greater ease.”
