Irish regional airline, Emerald Airlines, is looking for six candidates to take part in its newly launched Engineering and Maintenance apprenticeship.

The apprenticeship is carried out in collaboration with SOLAS, Ireland’s Further Education and Training Authority and Technological University Dublin. Applications for the apprenticeship will close on 28 April.

The application process will consist of three stages: an aptitude test, an interview, and a manual dexterity test. If successful, a full medical will then be required. The programme itself will be four years long.

Successful applicants will then split their time between classroom training in both Shannon and Dublin and on-the-job training at the Emerald Airlines Engineering and Maintenance Facility at Dublin Airport. As a major focus of their training, the Emerald Airlines apprentices will be working primarily on a fleet of ATR72-600  aircraft and will get to be part of a small dynamic team working on turboprop aircraft.

With a combined approach of classroom and hands-on experience, those who then successfully complete the apprenticeship will be considered for full-time positions at Emerald Airlines

Commenting on the announcement, John Redmond, Line Maintenance Manager at Emerald Airlines, said: We are delighted to be officially launching our Aircraft  Engineering and Maintenance Apprenticeship. This programme would be of particular interest to those interested in pursuing a career in the aviation industry, more specifically within Engineering and Maintenance departments. We are thrilled to be providing a select number of candidates with an unmissable opportunity at Ireland’s newest regional airline.”
