Discover Airlines, a Lufthansa Group airline, has installed the AERENA Inseat System by AERQ in one of its A320 aircraft. This implementation was realised through a collaboration and innovation partnership between AERQ, Discover Airlines, and Lufthansa Group Innovation Runway.

The A320 aircraft will serve medium-haul destinations commencing in summer 2024. During these flights, the system installation will undergo various use cases to test AERENA’s potential.

As an open IT platform, AERENA boosts digital cabin innovations throughout the travel journey and facilitates greater passenger engagement onboard the aircraft. By using smart data capturing and analytics, Discover Airlines can learn about the passengers’ entertainment demands and address them specifically.

A Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) covering the installation of the AERENA Inseat System has also been issued by the EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency).

“We are proud to be the first airline to trial this special entertainment system and to work together with AERQ on the next generation of in-flight entertainment. Our goal is to test the system in everyday life and understand how to further improve and personalise the travel experience through feedback and usage behaviour from our guests,” said Maximilian Meintgens, Director of Product & Marketing at Discover Airlines.

“We are very excited that AERENA now takes off and an airline as well as passengers get to experience what our platform has to offer. This is an important milestone for us and our parent companies,” added Arnd Kikker, Co-Managing Director at AERQ.

Discover Airlines is headquartered in Frankfurt, currently operates a fleet of 24 aircraft and employs around 2,000 people.
