Delta Air Lines has selected Hughes Network Systems to upgrade its in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity systems on board all its 400-plus Boeing 717 and regional jet aircraft.
The aircraft will also receive the new Delta Sync Wi-Fi login experience as new systems are installed. Delta Sync has been rolling out gradually across the airline’s network since April 2023.
The solution, with a multi-orbit antenna and Hughes JUPITER™ Ka-band satellite capacity, will ensure reliable in-flight connectivity (IFC), even across busy airport hubs.
“Delta is committed to delivering a reliable Wi-Fi experience to all our passengers, including those flying on our regional carriers,” said Glenn Latta, Managing Director of In-flight Entertainment and Connectivity at Delta.
“Our partnership with Hughes to create a low-weight, high-capability, gate-to-gate solution for our regional fleet brings us ever closer to fleet-wide connectivity at the speed and reliability our customers expect and unlocks our ability to elevate the experience further in the years to come,” added Latta.
The technology has been tested since March 2023, and the full rollout will begin in mid-2024.
