BAA Training has acquired 48 Cessna 172 Skyhawks from Textron Aviation. The fleet expansion will significantly increase the student-to-aircraft ratio, with the training provider aiming to accommodate up to 1,000 students per year.

The Cessna 172 Skyhawks will be equipped with glass cockpits, integrated with the advanced Garmin G1000 system. The aircraft will be operated in Spain, where an additional flight base will be launched in the second half of 2024, with plans to launch more bases in other parts in 2025 and 2026.

“At BAA Training, we are dedicated to shaping the future of aviation by providing top-tier training facilities and resources,” said Marijus Ravoitis, CEO of BAA Training. “This strategic acquisition will grow our aircraft fleet considerably, making BAA Training capable of efficiently training up to 1,000 pilots annually. Approximately 200 cadets will be supplied to our parent company, which owns 12 airlines.”

“For over six decades, the Cessna 172 Skyhawk has inspired the next generation of pilots and served as the world’s leading flight trainer,” said Chris Crow, Vice President of Piston Sales, Textron Aviation. “We are delighted to continue the relationship with BAA Training to provide their students access to the most produced single-engine aircraft globally.”
