Low-fare carrier Avelo Airlines is expanding its service from Tweed-New Haven Airport to three new nonstop destinations: Houston, Texas, St. Louis, Missouri, and Traverse City, Michigan.

Avelo will be the only airline offering nonstop services from Connecticut to these destinations. All three routes will start in June 2024 and will be operated using Boeing 737NG aircraft.

The airline will also base a sixth aircraft at the airport, exemplifying the growth of the airline at Tweed-New Haven. The basing of this sixth aircraft at the airport will create 35 more jobs. Avelo Airlines will also support flights at Tweed with two further aircraft based at Raleigh Durham International Airport (RDU) and Orlando International Airport (MCO). The total number of aircraft serving Tweed is now eight Boeing 737s.

Nearly 2 million people have flown at Tweed Airport since 2021.

Avelo Airlines Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy said, “We are excited to offer Connecticut residents even more travel options with the addition of Houston, St. Louis and Traverse City. Whether visiting friends and family, enjoying a leisurely vacation or attending an important business meeting, Avelo offers time and money-saving convenience for Connecticut travellers.”Avelo Airlines
