The United States and European Union, Iceland and Norway have signed an agreement that remove the time constraints on aircraft wet leasing.

The US Department of State announced the signing the document on 27 August, 2017. US authorities further explained that the agreement will allow air carriers to lease aircraft with crew to “their European partners” without time constraints.

“European Community regulations, which also apply to Norway and Iceland for years severely limited US carrier ability to “wet lease” to EU carriers,” read a statement by the US Department of Transportation. “At the same time, EU carriers faced no such limitations under Department of Transportation regulations when providing aircraft and crew either to each other or to US carriers.”
