Ireland’s flag carrier Aer Lingus has taken delivery of its first Airbus A321neo Long Range from Air Lease Corporation (ALC).

The airline released a statement saying that this is the first of eight A321neo LRs on the ALC order book. The remaining aircraft are due to be delivered next year.

Aer Lingus said: “The new Airbus will replace the Boeing 757s used on the trans-Atlantic route between Ireland and the East Coast of North America.”

The airline’s fleet is predominately filled with Airbus types the only exception being a small number of ATRs and Boeing 757s. The addition of the A321neo LR will allow the carrier to  increase its network, particularly with routes requiring a longer range.
