To supplement its Sofia-based operations, Wizz Air has wet-leased a B737-800 from Ukrainian charter and low-fare carrier SkyUp Airlines.

The B737-800 started flying from Cyprus’ Larnaca International Airport on June 30th, returning to Sofia. With most of SkyUp’s operations suspended by the conflict in Ukraine and the closure of Ukranian airspace, the airline has leased most of its eleven aircraft.  According to ch-aviation, the wet leasing contract has been signed for a few months, and can be extended.

Wizz Air’s fleet exclusively consists of Airbus aircraft, with the low-fare carrier operating 52 A320-200s, 35 A321-200s, and six A320-200Neos as just some of the narrow-body aircraft in its fleet.
