The summer schedule sees a 20% increase in flights to and from Saskatchewan, including routes between Saskatoon and Edmonton, Vancouver, and Winnipeg and between Regina and the same destinations. There are also two new domestic locations, both operating twice weekly: Sudbury, Ontario, and Sydney, Nova Scotia.
“We are thrilled to reaffirm our commitment to Saskatchewan and connecting Canadians from coast-to-coast with enhanced service from Regina and Saskatoon,” said John Weatherill, WestJet Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer. “This summer, WestJet will increase Saskatchewan’s connectivity to domestic and transborder destinations while continuing to offer guests more affordability, flexibility and choice.”
Further expanding its US route network, WestJet is introducing Anchorage, Alaska; Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina; and Salt Lake City, Utah, to its portfolio. The airline already flies to other US destinations, including Minneapolis, Chicago, Boston, Tampa, and Seattle. The airline is specifically ramping up flights to Florida for the summer holiday rush, with four new routes being launched.
“WestJet’s expanded summer schedule reflects our continued commitment to connecting Canadians by increasing our domestic and international capacity. In Canada alone, we are growing capacity by 12%, operating to 41 airports with over 3,000 weekly departures,” said Weatherill. “Offering more options for business and leisure travel, we’re excited to see our guests’ stories take off this summer as we ensure Canadians have affordable and reliable access to visit the people and destinations they love.”
In international growth, the airline will be operating new services to Paris, Dublin, Edinburgh, London, and Incheon, alongside maintained routes such as Tokyo. To support these endeavours, the airline has acquired nine leased 737 MAX 8 aircraft, paired with Swoop and Sunwing planes, with plans to update the fleet’s interiors.
