TrueNoord, a regional aircraft lessor, has delivered three new Airbus A220-300s to Breeze Airways, a low-fare airline, under a long-term sale-and-leaseback agreement. The aircraft fit with Breeze’s current strategy of transitioning to a single-type fleet, and will support its expansion through underserved Tier 2 and Tier 3 city pairs.

Breeze placed a 100-aircraft order for the A220-300 in February 2024 and stated plans to have a fully A220-300 fleet by the end of that year. It also received one of its aircraft from Azorra, another aircraft lessor, in May 2024.

“We are very pleased to support our existing customer Breeze with the lease of these modern and highly efficient A220s,” said Maarten Grift, TrueNoord Sales Director Americas “The right-sized seat capacity and lower operating costs of the type are enabling Breeze to profitably serve routes that larger narrowbody jets cannot sustain. A trend we are increasingly seeing across the Americas as operators seek to expand or renew their fleets with new-generation aircraft.”

The deal also signifies a milestone for the lessor, serving as TrueNoord’s first Airbus agreement and the largest aircraft type to join its portfolio.

“This agreement underscores TrueNoord’s commitment to supporting innovative operators, such as Breeze, with next-generation, fuel-efficient aircraft,” commented Anne-Bart Tieleman, TrueNoord CEO. “The A220 complements TrueNoord’s existing Embraer E2 order book and highlights our appetite for new generation 100-150 seat class aircraft. This important announcement sets the tone for the months ahead as we continue on our strong upwards growth path into 2026 and beyond.”
