IndiGo has signed a maintenance contract with Thales for avionics components on its fleet of 430 A320s and the future 800 Airbus aircraft. The contract spans 11 years and includes Thales’ “Repair-By-The-Hour” (RBTH) solution and the “Avionics-By-The-Hour” (ABTH) programme, a spares management solution that helps to ensure the availability of critical components to reduce downtime. The repairs will take place at Thales’ new avionics MRO facility in Gurugram, India, near Delhi Airport.

Additionally, the airline has extended a five-year contract with AvioBook, a Thales company, for AvioBook Flight. This Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) solution is the only Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)-authorised EFB for paperless operations.

“We are pleased to partner with Thales, a leading aerospace company trusted worldwide for its expertise in avionics support, to augment IndiGo’s maintenance and repair capabilities,” said Parichay Datta, Senior Vice-President, Engineering, IndiGo. “With IndiGo’s growing scale and fleet, this association aligns with our commitment to offer a hassle-free and safe flying experience to our customers, while ensuring operational excellence and reliability.”

“This strategic partnership with IndiGo underscores our commitment to delivering airline world-class avionics support and services. Our new MRO facility in India increases Thales’ ability to provide a swift, reliable service, backed by the power of our global organisation, to meet the evolving demands of the Indian aviation industry,” commented Thomas Got, Vice President, Aviation Global Services at Thales.
