“Brazil is a strategic market of enormous relevance for our global operation,” said Carlos Antunes, TAP’s Director for the Americas. “With the inauguration of the new route to Curitiba, we are further expanding our presence in the country, which already has several connections between Brazilian capitals and European cities, through Lisbon and Porto. This expansion reinforces our commitment to strengthening the historical, cultural, and economic ties between Portugal and Brazil. TAP is dedicated to bringing Brazil even closer to Europe, offering them a distinctive travel experience, with more options for connectivity, comfort, and efficiency towards Portugal and beyond”.
In other news, TAP Air Portugal has formed a partnership with the Portuguese Olympic Committee (COP) and the Portuguese Paralympic Committee (CPP) to become the Official Airline of Team Portugal and Olympic Partner for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, U.S. This status means that the airline will cover transport for the Portuguese delegation to the games, qualifying events, training camps, and international preparation missions.
At the signing ceremony, TAP awarded Gold and Silver TAP Miles&Go cards to Portuguese athletes who won medals at the 2024 Games in Paris.
“It is with great pride that we renew our commitment to Portuguese sport and to all athletes who fly the Portuguese flag at the highest level,” commented the Chairman of the Board of Directors of TAP, Carlos Oliveira. “We are certain that, with this partnership, our athletes will go faster, higher and stronger. Transporting Team Portugal is more than a mission, it is a commitment to the values that unite us: dedication, overcoming adversity and ambition.”
“I thank TAP for assuming the role of privileged partner of Portuguese sport,” added Fernando Gomes, President of the Portuguese Olympic Committee. “This is not an isolated initiative, because at the COP and the CPP we will continue to build partnerships that promote unity, create real value for athletes and for the entire sports ecosystem, because our national success is not the sum of isolated efforts, but the result of an organised, intelligent, and cooperative collaboration.”
