Regional aircraft lessor TrueNoord has delivered two ATR 72-600s to TACV Cabo Verde Airlines on a long-term operating lease. The two aircraft will be based at Praia International Airport on Santiago Island.

The 72-600s are the airline’s first aircraft of the type, and will be crucial in providing intra-island connectivity for the Republic of Cabo Verde to support tourism, trade, and mobility.

“The lease of these aircraft to TACV Cabo Verde Airlines expands our footprint in Africa considerably and adds to our growing list of regional airline customers,” said Maarten Grift, TrueNoord Sales Director. “It was a pleasure working with their professional team, and we look forward to continuing our long-term partnership as we work to achieve our shared goal of improving regional transport for communities in remote locations. We also extend our thanks to IndiGo for their cooperation during the streamlined redelivery of these aircraft.”

Grift also noted the growth in passenger numbers across Africa, with a significant number of African airlines looking to expand their fleets for regional travel. He highlighted the benefits of turboprops for this market.

“We are pleased to partner with TrueNoord, a lessor with deep expertise in supporting regional airlines and a strong commitment to long-term collaboration,” commented Pedro Barros, Chairman and CEO of TACV Cabo Verde Airlines. “The lease of these two aircraft marks an important step for TACV Cabo Verde Airlines, better positioning us to enhance connectivity across our island nation. This partnership reflects our shared vision for sustainable regional aviation and passenger-focused service.”
