Global MRO provider StandardAero is to expand its services for CFM International LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines to meet growing demand.
CFM International anticipates a tripling of LEAP maintenance visits by the end of the decade, driven by a combination of strong market share and the operational demands of engines in hot and harsh environments.
As a result, CFM has created an open LEAP MRO ecosystem of 35 global sites that allows customers to choose where to overhaul their engines and includes licensed third-party providers.
StandardAero’s existing facilities in San Antonio, Texas, which include two LEAP test cells and room for enlargement, will be used under a new agreement with the engine manufacturer aimed at accelerating its operational efficiency.
“StandardAero’s LEAP line was designed from the outset to accommodate future expansion, including the correlation of additional test cells, and the facility is well positioned to meet the growing needs of the LEAP open MRO ecosystem,” said the company in a statement.
Lewis Prebble, President – Engine Services – Airlines and Fleets at StandardAero, said: “We already provide LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B services to a range of airline operators and asset managers across North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, South Asia and the Asia-Pacific region, and our capacity expansion over the next five years will enable us to further expand our support of the global LEAP customer base.”
