StandardAero has secured maintenance approval from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) for its engine overhaul centre in Texas.

The centre in San Antonio is now permitted to support the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) needs of operators in China for the CFM International LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B turbofan engines.

Over 1,200 LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines power the Airbus A320neo family and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in China.

Janice Ho, the airline’s Asia-Pacific Sales Director, said: “StandardAero looks forward to meeting the LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B needs of Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX operators across the nation.”

The aerospace engine aftermarket services provider produces the LEAP and CFM56 engines for more than 600 operators worldwide. StandardAero runs facilities across 12 different countries, such as Brazil, Australia and Canada.

At the company’s PW100 Overhaul Facility (DOF) in France, the Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) recently approved services on PW127M engines.

StandardAero’s engine service revenue increased by 12.9% to approximately USD 1,090 million in the three months between July – September 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.

The company supports air carriers like PLAY Airlines, Cordendon Airlines and Lufthansa CityLine in addition to the 20-plus airlines operating the LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines across China.
