SMBC Aviation Capital has signed its first deal with new customer, Scoot, the low-fare arm of Singapore Airlines, for the placement of six new Airbus A321neo aircraft.

The new A321neo aircraft, powered by Pratt and Whitney’s PurePower PW1100G-JM engines, will be placed with Scoot and are scheduled to be delivered from the end of 2020 through 2021.

“We look forward to receiving the A321neo aircraft from SMBC Aviation Capital; the aircraft will rejuvenate our fleet and enable us to meet our double-digit growth plan in the coming years,” commented Lee Lik Hsin, CEO of Scoot.

“We are very pleased to conclude this transaction with new customer Scoot as we further expand in this region,” said Peter Barrett, CEO of SMBC Aviation Capital. “We look forward to working with Scoot on the delivery of these aircraft over the coming years and value the airline as one of our new customers.”

Scoot announced its plan to add 16 A321neos to its fleet in July to be used on medium-haul routes within six hours and help the airline to meet its double-digit growth plan by the end of the financial year 2020/2021.

Of the 16 aircraft, six are an upsize from Scoot’s current A320neo order from Airbus, while 10 will be leased.
