Regional airline Skytrans has added an Airbus A319 to its fleet to grow its wet leasing operations in the Australian market.
The airline, part of Avia Solutions Group, plans to use the aircraft to increase capacity during peak travel seasons in line with the global aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance (ACMI) leasing market’s focus on adapting to seasonal fluctuations in demand.
With Australian domestic air passenger travel forecast to grow by approximately 2.6% annually, reaching over 237 million passengers by 2050, Skytrans’ ACMI services are intended to offer airlines increased operational flexibility. Skytrans claims that strategic use of ACMI services can potentially boost airline profits by 2-3%.
“As a part of Avia Solutions Group, the world’s largest ACMI provider, we are broadening the Group’s capabilities to support airlines when they need it. We are dedicated to being part of their success and cost-efficient fleet establishment,” said Gytis Gumuliauskas, Managing Director at Skytrans.
“Introducing this new Airbus model is not just about expanding our fleet. It is about redefining our operational capabilities and setting a new standard in the aviation service industry.”
He acknowledged the significant effort involved in integrating the new aircraft type, including adapting existing processes, systems, manuals, and training programmes for narrowbody operations, but expressed confidence in the company’s ability to establish trusted, long-term partnerships through this expansion.
