Asiana Airlines has signed a five-year agreement with Lufthansa Technik Philippines for base maintenance services, with the MRO provider tasked to carry out a total of 14 checks on the South Korean airline’s Airbus A380s.

Starting this year, the airline’s aircraft are scheduled to undergo light to heavy maintenance checks. “We are happy for this opportunity to further strengthen our long-term relationship with Lufthansa Technik Philippines,” said Dong Jun Shin, general manager aircraft and supplies purchasing for Asiana.

The Seoul-based carrier took delivery of its first A380s in 2014, and has six at present. In addition to the maintenance checks, LT Philippines is also commissioned to carry out modifications on the doors, flap tracks, wing tip, engine feed fuel pump system, and other structural modifications.

The first A380 under this contract is scheduled to arrive in Manila in March. The airline currently operates a fleet of 82 long- and short-haul aircraft.
