Tecnam has announced the delivery of two P2012 Traveller Continental aircraft to RORAIMA Airways in Guyana. The two aircraft are fitted with multi-mission configurations that enable RORAIMA to provide 24-hour air ambulance operations and cargo capability.

The airline is the first operator of the P2012 Traveller in the region, choosing the aircraft for its passenger comfort features, such as the ample seat size with amenities (double in-seat USB ports, cup holder, armrest, seat pocket), under seat stowage, and dual air conditioning.

“We are expanding the VIP passenger experience, charter operations, cargo and medevac flights, offering a higher level of safety and luxury even in the jungle,” said RORAIMA Airways’ Director of Aviation and Chief Pilot Gerald Gouveia Jr. “Roraima has a very proud history of providing these services to the people of Guyana during the day and the night. Due to the risk of operating in the jungle without proper weather reporting and adverse weather conditions, we had actually restricted the night flying at the company.”

RORAIMA Airways provides air charter services in Guyana and northern Brazil, where varied terrain and water contribute to the necessity of air travel. Gouveia, along with a crew, flew the first aircraft from Canada to its new base in Guyana.

Gouveia continued: “With the Tecnam aircraft and the added technology and safety standards, as well as the work that the government is doing to improve the quality of the airstrips across Guyana, we are looking to restart our night medevac service. I can safely say, as the Director of Aviation, I am in a position where I will be more comfortable dispatching night medevac flights.”

With the new aircraft, RORAIMA Airways will have an opening to provide charter flights across the Caribbean and Northern Brazil, which ties in with the Government of Guyana’s investment into aviation for the country’s development.

“Providing a new and vital service is the mission of our P2012 Traveller in all its variants. The versatility of the Continental Traveller with multi-mission capability will be a key success factor for Roraima’s operations,” commented Francesco Sferra, Tecnam P2012 – Special Mission Platforms Sales & Business Development Manager.
