Porter Aviation Holdings (PAHI) has announced that it is developing a new terminal at Montréal Saint-Hubert Airport (YHU).

The partnership between PAHI and Montréal Saint-Hubert will provide a second airport for Porter Airlines to serve the Montreal market. Construction will begin in 2023 and is scheduled for completion by late 2024.

More than 10 potential YHU routes have been identified, and Porter intends to connect YHU with both of its Toronto hubs – Billy Bishop and Toronto Pearson. The routes will be served with a combination of its De Havilland Dash 8-400 and Embraer E195-E2 aircraft.

The YHU terminal development comes after the successful 17-year revitalisation of Porter’s Toronto hub, Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. The airline’s commitment to this airport was a catalyst for route development and infrastructure improvement. This led to it serving 3 million passengers annually, across over 20 routes with $3 billion dollars of economic impact.

The new YHU terminal investment will result in over 500 permanent jobs. It will have 9 aircraft gates, have a modern design aesthetic, and be a net-zero facility, with building systems to operate fully on electric power.

“We have proven this concept at Billy Bishop and look forward to working with our partners at Saint-Hubert to help create a similar success story,” said Michael Deluce, President and CEO of PAHI.

“Porter is the perfect match for the Montréal Saint-Hubert Airport. This new partnership will provide world-class air services to the Greater Montréal population and the Québec regions. It will also ease air travel between the province and the rest of Canada, and be a key item for the development of the Longueuil aerospace cluster,” said Yanic Roy, Managing Director, Montréal-Saint-Hubert Airport.

A new air service

Porter Airlines is also intending to develop a codeshare partnership with Canadian regional airline, Pascan Aviation. This agreement will provide increased opportunities for travellers in the province of Québec and other regions of Canada.
