Canadian regional carrier Porter Airlines has launched a new exclusive nonstop service connecting Ottawa International Airport (YOW) and Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM).
The new route will operate three times a week with roundtrip flights on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
The route also serves as a gateway for Fort McMurray residents to connect with Porter’s growing Eastern Canada network, which includes destinations such as St. John’s, Halifax, Moncton, and Toronto, through the Ottawa hub.
This new addition brings Porter’s total number of destinations from Ottawa to 26 and marks Fort McMurray as the airline’s third destination in Alberta, alongside Calgary and Edmonton.
The route will be operated by the airline’s 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, which features a two-by-two seating. Unusually for a regional operator, the Porter base fare includes complimentary premium snacks and free beer and wine served in glassware, along with free, fast WiFi.
PorterReserve fares offer fresh, healthy meals, enhanced legroom, complimentary checked bags, and priority boarding and check-in. These same amenities are available for purchase à la carte with PorterClassic fares.

Denean Robinson, president and CEO of the Fort McMurray Airport Authority, said that the community has been eager for Porter’s presence.
“The schedule makes it easy to connect to popular East Coast destinations and beyond, giving residents more access to the places they want to go,” Robinson said.
