StandardAero, a provider of engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services, has announced that it will be supporting PLAY airlines.

The company will provide LEAP MRO to the Icelandic low-fare airline from its facility in San Antonio, Texas, including LEAP-1A Performance Restoration Shop Visit (PRSV) services for the A320neo fleet, as well as workscoping-forecasting, engine testing, programme management, component repair development, lease engine support and module swaps. These services come under StandardAero’s Total Engine Asset Management (TEAM) portfolio.

“We are looking forward to working with StandardAero in support of our LEAP-1A maintenance needs,” said Sindri Rúnar Úlfarsson, Manager Engineering – Technical Operations for PLAY. “Operational performance and commercial flexibility were critical factors in our decision-making process, and we look forward to experiencing StandardAero’s customer service first-hand.”

StandardAero achieved LEAP-1A correlation approval for its first test cell at the San Antonio base and previously achieved LEAP-1B approval in early 2024. The company currently operates an Aviation Mechanic Training Programme at the facility’s Training Academy and also industrialises engine component repairs for LEAP family aircraft via its Component Repair Services (CRS) division’s network.

“StandardAero is truly honoured to have been selected by PLAY airlines to provide it with LEAP-1A PRSV services,” commented Will Pitcher, Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Customers for the StandardAero Engine Services – Airlines & Fleets division. “We know how important on-time performance is to PLAY and its passengers, and look forward to providing PLAY with reliable, high-quality services from our San Antonio-based LEAP facility for many years to come.”
