Icelandic low-fare carrier PLAY Airlines has announced a new partnership with easyJet to expand its PLAY Connect platform and increase the number of destinations available to its customers to over 350 unique city pairs.
The arrangement will use Icelandic tech firm Dohop’s interlining solution, which allows airlines to connect flights without traditional interline agreements.
PLAY Airlines is aiming to meet the increasing demand for diverse travel itineraries and said the new platform is key to providing affordable travel options for both Icelandic and international travellers.
“The inclusion of easyJet into PLAY Connect allows us to provide an extensive range of destinations while ensuring a seamless and cost-effective travel experience,” said Tatiana Shirokova, Head of Distribution at PLAY Airlines.
Dawn Hardwick, easyJet’s Global Lead of Strategic Airline Partnerships and Connectivity, also expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the benefits for passengers connecting to easyJet’s network.
“With our strong presence at Europe’s leading airports, we are now able to offer connecting passengers on PLAY Airlines greater access to our route network connecting Europe’s primary airports with great value fares and friendly service,” she said.
PLAY Airlines plans to continue expanding PLAY Connect by partnering with more airlines from various regions, including the USA, Canada, the Middle East, Latin America, and Asia.
