Pegasus Airlines has agreed to purchase up to 300 CFM LEAP-1B engines to power its incoming fleet of Boeing 737-10 aircraft. The deal includes spare engines and a comprehensive long-term maintenance agreement, securing the propulsion strategy for the Turkish low-fare carrier’s future capacity growth.

The agreement supports Pegasus’s recently expanded order book, which includes 100 firm orders for the 737-10 model.

“Since we launched operations in 1990, CFM engines have played a major role in helping Pegasus build a reliable, efficient fleet that serves our customers,” said Güliz Öztürk, CEO of Pegasus Airlines. “We have been extremely pleased with the operation of the LEAP engine family and look forward to bringing the same performance and stability to our Boeing 737-10 fleet.”

Öztürk added that the engine selection aligns with the carrier’s environmental roadmap. “The lower emissions and higher fuel efficiency of LEAP-1B engines will significantly contribute to both our 2030 CO2 reduction target and the 2050 net-zero CO2 industry emissions goal,” she stated.

Gaël Méheust, President and CEO of CFM International, highlighted the durability of the partnership.

“We believe that the LEAP-powered 737 MAX 10 will be an invaluable asset in Pegasus’ continuing expansion, providing longer range, lower emissions, better fuel efficiency, and unequalled reliability,” he said.

Pegasus Airlines was the first operator globally to introduce the LEAP engine into commercial service in July 2016. The carrier currently operates a mixed fleet including the previous generation CFM56-powered aircraft and the new generation LEAP-1A powered Airbus A320neo family.
