Norwegian has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Air Lease Corporation (ALC) to lease six Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

This LOI is in addition to the three 737 MAX 8 aircraft which Norwegian previously agreed to lease from ALC, of which one has already been delivered to the airline. The aircraft are due to be delivered ahead of the summer 2023 season.

The addition of the ALC aircraft will help to counteract delays from Boeing for aircraft that were due to be delivered in the spring. However, the final agreement is subject to certain closing conditions.

Geir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian, added that this delivery of a subsequent number of Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft would fit well with its fleet strategy.

The Boeing 737 MAX 8 will contribute to Norwegian’s ambitious target to reduce its carbon emissions by 45% by 2030.
