Norwegian has entered into an agreement with CFM International to purchase 11 LEAP-1B spare engines to support its growing fleet of 737 MAX aircraft, adding to the two LEAP-1 spare engines the airline currently owns.

“We are pleased to continue our long-standing partnership with CFM. This transaction secures the operational resilience of Norwegian and will maximise our aircraft availability and utilisation,” said Geir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian.

Deliveries are scheduled in 2027 and 2028 and are specifically tailored for Norwegian’s requirements. The investment is part of Norwegian’s sustainability strategy that aims to reduce emissions and optimise efficiency.
