UK-based Muirhead Avionics/AMETEK MRO has achieved ISO/IEC 17025:20 accreditation from UKAS, the internationally recognised standard for calibration and testing laboratory competence.
The accreditation confirms the organisation’s adherence to stringent metrological traceability, measurement uncertainty analysis, and quality management system requirements, essential for maintaining the integrity of avionics systems calibration and testing.
It signifies that Muirhead Avionics, based in Slough, Berkshire, has demonstrated technical proficiency and operational rigour commensurate with the demands of EASA and FAA regulatory frameworks, ensuring reliable and accurate data for critical avionics maintenance, repair, and overhaul operations.
David Bentley, Divisional Vice President and Business Unit Manager at Muirhead Avionics, said: “As one of the largest specialist avionics repair facilities in Europe, focused on the repair, overhaul, and maintenance of complex OEM equipment for the global Airbus and Boeing fleets, the UKAS accreditation confirms our commitment to operating at the highest standards.
“Our calibration laboratory has a fully compliant calibration management system, quality manual, documented procedures and processes, as well as a team of technical staff trained to maintain the highest levels of competence.”
Hetaxi Rami, Calibration Technician at Muirhead Avionics, highlighted the practical benefits of the UKAS framework.
“Everything runs more smoothly because the processes are well-defined and consistent, and this helps us to stay on track every day. They guide us to maintain high quality and even spot potential issues early on, which saves time and effort,” she said.
