Airlines and operators are increasingly favouring third-party MRO services in the Middle East, driven by persistent parts shortages combined with significant growth in demand for air travel, according to a leading industry figure

Ismaël Fadili, VP Sales EMEA at AMETEK MRO

“It is taking time,” said Ismaël Fadili, VP Sales EMEA at AMETEK MRO. “However, the persistent parts shortages caused by supply-chain issues, combined with the substantial growth of aviation across the Middle East is fueling demand for OEM-quality, third-party MRO services.”

He adds that the surge in pre-owned aircraft transactions, driven by limited new aircraft availability, is creating increased demand for comprehensive maintenance and refurbishment packages.

The company will be in Dubai for the annual MRO Middle East exhibition next week and Fadili says the region is a crucial global hub, with demand particularly strong in the three major dominant countries of Saudi Arabia, UAE and Turkey.

Fadili adds that operators are keen to embrace new technology when it comes to maintenance strategies for proactive scheduling and cost reduction.

“…we see operators looking ahead and exploring ways to use advanced technology, such as real-time analytics and predictive maintenance. This helps them to tailor their services to meet customer needs while simultaneously informing decision making and streamlining maintenance events. We are here to support them with those processes.”

AEM/AMETEK MRO and Liebherr Aerospace signed a partnership deal at MRO Europe in Barcelona last year

The company is also strengthening its EMEA presence through increased OEM partnerships and the development of unique repair solutions.

“We’re tailoring our wide range of repair capabilities from actuation to landing systems, or safety equipment to power generation, right across the marketplace. We are looking to invest in dedicated repair and training facilities, fostering knowledge sharing and building opportunities for mutual business benefits,” Fadili said.

Recent developments for the company include a Landing Gear Service Agreement between AEM/AMETEK MRO and Liebherr-Aerospace for Embraer E-Jet E1 operators across EMEA, and AMETEK MRO Singapore’s appointment as a Honeywell Authorised Repair Centre for TCAS.
