Mandarin Airlines has completed the ferry flight of its newly delivered ATR 72-600 with a 30% blend of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The flight marked the first leg of a journey between Toulouse and Taipei, the hub where Mandarin will operate this aircraft and 11 others in the fleet that will serve Taiwan.

ATR is fully engaged in propelling regional aviation towards lower-emissions and holds a target to provide 100% SAF capability by 2030. Currently, the PW127XT engines that are installed in the 72-600 can function with up to 50% SAF.

In other similar initiatives, ATR formed a collaboration with Braathens Regional Airlines and Neste to accelerate 100% SAF compatibility across ATR’s portfolio, which resulted in a 100% SAF flight with an 72-600 in 2022.
