ManaAir, a jointly-owned venture by KAir Enterprises and United Airlines, has successfully completed the purchase of ExpressJet Airlines from SkyWest.

ExpressJet operates as United Express on behalf of United Airlines. The regional carrier plans to grow its fleet in 2019, with 25 new dual-class Embraer E175 aircraft. The first delivery is scheduled for April.

SkyWest entered into definitive agreements to sell ExpressJet Airlines in December.

Subodh Karnik will serve as president and CEO of ExpressJet and has over 30 years of airline experience including senior leadership roles at Delta Air Lines, Continental Airlines and international and regional carriers.

“I am honoured to join the strong, resilient team at ExpressJet as we cement the United Express partnership and benefit from the strength of United Airlines’ investment,” Karnik commented. “Twenty percent growth, including hiring 600 pilots in 2019, is only the start.”
