Regional airline Luxair has placed an order for up to four Boeing 737 MAX 10s – 2 firms and 2 options – to support the Luxembourg-based airline’s growth.

The order comes only a year after the airline made an order for the 737-7 and 737-8 models. 737 MAX 10 is the largest model in the MAX family, and with its size, operators can fly more passengers at a lower cost per seat than any single-aisle aircraft.

Gilles Feith, CEO of Luxair, said that the order is “another step towards Luxair positioning for its future,” supporting both its growth and decarbonisation efforts.

“There is high commonality between the 737 MAX models, and this allows for significant operational savings for the airline,” he added.

Luxair currently operates a fleet of 21 aircraft, a mix of Dash 8-400s, 737-8 MAX aircraft, and eight 737NGs. It also recently made an order for up to nine Embraer E195-E2s in October last year, due for delivery in Q4 2025.

“With three members of the 737 MAX family in its fleet, Luxair will have the flexibility to use the right-size airplane according to the market demand,” said Brad McMullen, Boeing Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing.

Luxair has further plans to fly to more leisure destinations to meet demand. Currently, it serves 94 destinations and has expanded its route network by 30% in the past two years.

The airline plans to operate its new 737 MAX 10s with a minimum 30-inch seat pitch, flying up to 213 passengers on routes up to 5,740 km/3,100 nm.

Boeing and Luxair announced today the European regional carrier placed an order for two 737 MAX 10 airplanes with options for two more.
