LOT Polish Airlines has awarded Lufthansa Technik a contract for services on its CFM International LEAP-1B engines.
The contract means XEOS, Lufthansa Technik’s joint venture with GE Aerospace near Wrocław, Poland, has received its first LEAP engine, with a second going to the company’s established LEAP engine shop in Hamburg.
“Having recently gained certification for LEAP engines, XEOS now ideally complements our LEAP engine shop in Hamburg and further supports our successful ramp-up for this important engine type,” said David Sturz, Corporate Sales Executive at Lufthansa Technik.
In the past year, Lufthansa Technik has provided various MRO services for LOT, including a C-check on a Boeing 787 performed by Lufthansa Technik Malta and engine services for the carrier’s CFM56-7B engines in Hamburg.
“After a positive experience with Lufthansa Technik’s services for our older-generation CFM engines, we are confident to now also entrust our latest-generation CFM engines to their renowned expertise, part of which is even being delivered right here in Poland,” said Maciej Maciejewicz, Head of Powerplant at LOT Polish Airlines.
