Loganair is set to expand its operations at London Heathrow.

The regional airline has secured access to at least 30 additional pairs of slots each week under a lease from British Airways, which will take effect from May 2023.

The slots will enable Loganair to develop regional connectivity from the UK to domestic destinations – offering point-to-point access to London and a range of new worldwide destinations.

The airline will move its Dundee service from London City Airport, which will start to service customers from 6 May. Its routes from Sumburgh (Shetland) and Kirkwall (Orkney) via Dundee will also switch to London Heathrow at the beginning of May, which Loganair CEO, Jonathan Hinkles, has hailed as a “game changer” for Shetland and Orkney regional connectivity.

The move marks “the largest single expansion of regional, domestic air connectivity at Heathrow in a generation.”

“Alongside excellent ground transport links into central London, the new range of global flight connections will bring new inward investment opportunities and tourism into the UK’s regions, together with enabling travellers to use their local airport to fly worldwide for the first time,” Hinkles added.
