Loch Lomond Seaplanes (LLS) looks set to be the first British customer for the NOEMI electric seaplane, developed by Norway’s Elfly Group. The UK’s only commercial seaplane service has signed a Memorandum of Understanding for two nine-seat NOEMI aircraft, with an option for three more.

The NOEMI seaplane claims a 200 km range and a 200 km/h cruising speed, meaning journeys that currently require five or six hours by train could be completed in just 45 minutes, unlocking economic potential in coastal areas.

Founded in 2004, LLS uses Cessna 208 Caravan floatplanes, demonstrating the feasibility of seaplane travel without the need for extensive runway infrastructure.

David West, Managing Director and founder of LLS, said: “The NOEMI seaplane represents a perfect blend of tradition and innovation. Our passengers have long cherished the experience of flying over Scotland’s scenic landscapes, and now we can offer this experience with a dramatically reduced environmental impact.”

Eric Lithun, CEO of Elfly Group, said: “This is a terrific partnership with huge potential. David West is a legendary figure in the seaplane arena, whose many years of experience across the globe will help us to make the NOEMI the best possible aircraft for short-haul flying.”
