KLM Cityhopper, KLM’s regional carrier, has selected Recaro Aircraft Seating to outfit its fleet of 21 recently ordered Embraer 195-E2 aircraft.

Each aircraft will feature a hybrid layout of both Recaro BL3710 and SL3710 seats, which will optimise weight efficiency but ensure passenger comfort, the companies suggest.

With 132 seats onboard, the 195-E2 will be the largest aircraft in KLM Cityhopper’s fleet and the first of the aircraft is set to be delivered in the first quarter of 2021.

The SL3710 seat weighs eight kilograms and Recaro suggest it is a popular choice for regional airlines as it is ergonomically optimised for passengers, yet helps to reduce fuel costs for the airline.

Meanwhile, the BL3710 combines ergonomic design with enhancement options to create a state-of-the-art seat model, which Recaro suggests is ideal for short- and medium-haul flights.

Dr. Mark Hiller, CEO and Shareholder of Recaro Aircraft Seating commented: “I am eager to expand our business into the regional aviation sector by partnering with KLM, as they are a significant key player in Europe and a long-term Recaro customer.”
